The single best defense against data loss is a solid backup strategy. Here’s how to build one that actually works when you need it.
The 3-2-1 Rule
Keep at least 3 copies of your data, on 2 different types of media, with 1 copy stored off-site or in the cloud.
Automate Everything
Manual backups get forgotten. Use automated backup software or built-in OS tools (Time Machine for Mac, File History for Windows) to back up continuously in the background.
Test Your Backups
A backup you’ve never tested is not a reliable backup. Periodically verify that your backup files actually open and restore correctly.
Protect Against Ransomware
Keep at least one backup copy disconnected from your network so ransomware can’t encrypt it along with your live data.
Even with the best backup strategy, hardware can still fail unexpectedly. If it does, DataRecover Pro is here to help.
